Home was great, cleaners were finishing up as we arrived and home was very clean and had all we needed

Our visit this year to The Lookout was our second experience. Once again, we were completely happy with everything about the place - the location is great, the house has a nice layout, and everything was very clean.

Welcome here often to escape. It is the perfect place for us. I wouldn’t say that it is anything fancy, but that’s why we love it. It’s a cozy cabin with a beach front view. Everything you need is close. Our kids enjoy their time and we love to relax while listening to the ocean. Sadly, the rates have gone up so much I wouldn’t say it is a great bang for your buck. Some of the other houses along the stretch are now in the same nightly range and have nice comfy bed, soft towels and more updated. This place might need some more updates for me to book at the new rate.

We selected the Lookout because of the amazing view, walkout to the beach and the fire pit. It far exceeded expectations. We loved it. I dealt with Sarah, and you could not find a warmer, more helpful, professional. We look forward to staying at a Shore Things Property again next year.

We have stayed at the Lookout many times over the past 20 years. The house is clean and comfortable and has stunning ocean views. It is a great place for extended family gatherings in any season. Our family has made many happy memories there, having a fire in the backyard, playing games in the cozy living room, or just staring out at the ocean.

This was our 4th (or 5th) visit at the Lookout and we LOVE it! Feels like our little secret beach getaway! We have always enjoyed it being a dog family, access to a fenced in yard on the beach is wonderful! But this time we were able to bring our new son as well! Plan on returning here for as long as it’s available!!

This is one of our favorite homes on the cost to rent, and it’s always a pleasure to work with Shore Thing Vacation Rentals. They are easy to work with, always communicative and professional. The home is in the perfect location and always spotless. This is our first time back in a few years and we noticed the home is in need of some general upkeep; repairs to the woodwork around the windows, flooring, countertops, and replacing torn rugs would put a new sparkle on The Lookout. Additionally, the fireplace doesn’t draw smoke up and out the chimney which has left a layer of soot on the mantle and turned the quite ceiling dingy over the years - a fresh coat of paint would really tidy things up. Overall, you can’t beat the location - we’ll keep coming back for years to come!

This was our fourth visit to the Oceanside/Netarts area, and staying in the Lookout proved to be our best experience thus far. A very lovely home, with just the perfect layout for our family. Access to the beach is the best, and everything in the home worked as expected. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Oceanside/Netarts area. It is truly top notch!

We travel a lot and we do a lot of research on where we stay. We look at reviews from past guests to help us narrow down where we want to stay. I can say this listing is so accurate to what you see that it's actually refreshing! We thoroughly enjoyed the beach off the backyard, everything we needed to cook dinners at night, nice showers, comfortable beds, open floor plan and lots of windows to show the beauty of the bay. I can see (and now understand) why people want to stay here again and again! Thank you for a great stay, we hope to come back one day!

This place has absolutely stunning views and a fantastic location for walking along the beach with my pups. It's a convenient, short drive to Tillamook for shopping, trips to the Tillamook Cheese Factory, and there is a lot of activity with fisherman and clam-diggers, along with tons of herons and other birds, which were really fun to watch during our stay. It's very peaceful and quiet at night. Sitting on the deck and listening to the sound of the waves was wonderful.
The place needs some love and updating though, as it wasn't very clean, the living room furniture isn't comfortable (the beds were very comfy though!), but I'd still return if the host/management company could assure me some things were taken care of. I had to clean up trash and dog poo in the yard from previous guests, which the host/management company should definitely be taking care of between stays. There is also no usable furniture in the yard, only two old metal chairs in bad shape, with one having only three legs. The ceiling is very dirty looking (we assume from lack of any recent painting, and maybe a smoky fireplace, which we never used), and it really gives the place a dirty feeling. The service from the property management company, Sarah in particular, was absolutely great with regards to communication and check-in information, which was very much appreciated. I usually don't give long reviews like this, however, even though the place has some really great pros, there are cons that should be addressed. All in all, we are pretty easy people, so enjoyed the positives of this nice little rental.

This is our 2nd time staying at the Lookout and it is always amazing. We love staying there. The house could use a 2nd fan as it was really hot for the Oregon coast while we were there but otherwise the house is quirky and awesome and the new couch is comfy. We will be back!

We love the happy Camp area and this is our favorite house in the area. It's right on the beach, beautiful view, comfortable and clean.

The house is right on the beach so the location could not be better! The house is well equipped and comfortable. Using the TV however involves 2 controls and fairly involved directions. That is the only less-than-great feature, so not bad in the scheme of things.

Our stay exceeded expectations. The view when we walked through the door blew us away. The location was unbeatable and there were no crowds on the beach. The house was great and management was very responsive.

This property was amazing! We will definitely book again. This house was perfect for a small family or two small families. It is literally right off the beach with perfect access. It was clean, well stocked and convenient as a jumping off point for traveling to other places!

The Lookout in Netarts never disappoints. Comfortable, fully stocked house. Wonderful location. Service providers are always there when we need something.

We love this house. Great access to the beach. Shorething makes your stay so easy, any questions are answered promptly.

Sarah was excellent and came over in the evening when we had a problem
getting the Charter cable remote to work. Note, the TV console doors must
remain open for direct line of sight for the remote to work. She also accommodated us on a slightly later check out since we were there only one night.
With regard to maintenance, the shower hot water adjustment for the secondary bathroom is not working properly and would not adjust down to a
more comfortable temperature.
We have stayed at the unit several times over the past 4 years and the queen mattress in the left front bedroom continues to be a "torture rack"!
We and other family members have woken up with terrible backaches. It
really needs to be upgraded to something more comfortable and fitting for
a rental of this level.
Otherwise, everything else is great about the unit and we will condtinu to pick it as our go to spot for Netarts. Getting availability on the calendar continues to be highly challenging given its popularity!

We loved staying in this house. It is in such a great location on the beach with lovely views and ocean access. We rented it because it is pretty much the only one that is both beachfront and dog friendly.

We've stayed in a lot of the houses in this area (including this one in years past) and this is one of the older ones. It is still in great shape, but does need a few repairs done. Nothing that really affects the quality of the stay, but the handrails on the deck stairs need some attention as they are becoming loose and potentially unsafe. We didn't light the fireplace because the quantity of soot that is built up outside of it makes me question whether it was safe or not, but we definitely used the awesome firepit in the yard!

Had to scrounge about a bit to find bedding to make the couch thing in the loft into a bed, there are extra sheets and blankets in the house, but maybe designated things for the loft bed would make that process easier. There is a chest up there, but all it had were a couple uncovered pillows, so had to raid the sheet cabinet and blankets from the other bedrooms. It all worked out though. The loft couch/bed isn't super comfortable, but good enough for this old lady's back for a few nights. Didn't want to make my pregnant daughter-in-laws sleep up there though.

The kitchen has everything you will need for cooking meals, that's always nice in a vacation home. And it felt clean and nice when we got there. Communication with rental company was great.

I would definitely recommend this house without hesitation to those looking for a pet friendly beachside home. Thanks so much, for the great stay!

The Lookout is directly on Netarts bay where you can watch the weather and tides change from moment to moment. The stone fireplace and wood interior make it feel like a cabin but it has vaulted ceilings and lots of light. It feels like magic.

Fantastic setting and view. So quiet and homey, better than the photos. Very well equipped and wonderful managers. Funky fireplace that didn't draft well. Set off the smoke alarm twice and our clothes reeked of smoke when we got home.

My family and I spent two cozy nights at this house right on Netarts Bay. The views are spectacular and the house is well positioned and organized. We really enjoyed ourselves and want to return when the weather is warmer.

The house was beautiful and warm with a gorgeous view. It was clean and well appointed and lived up to all the pictures in the advertising. Sarah, our point person, made us feel welcome and was a great communicator. We loved our stay!

Great house right on the beach. Impressive view, we enjoyed a fun beach walk to Oceanside, watching the crab boats, and sitting around the fire in front of the house. House was clean, comfortable with a northwest feel.

It is wonderfully sweet and warm ... and beach access is wonderful.

We look staying at The Lookout and look forward to it every year. The VRBO folks provide great service. The house is fantastic with amazing views. We enjoy having both the bay and ocean right outside our backdoor. I'll be booking the same week for next year. :)

We had eyed this property 2 years ago when driving up the Oregon Coast. I had heard Happy Camp was a sweet, sleepy little part of the beach. We finally scored a summer reservation and the property went beyond our greatest expectations. When you first open the doors, you’re met by a jaw dropping 180 degree view of Netarts Bay. The house is more spacious than photos reveal. Plenty of room for two families and grandma who didn’t mind sleeping in the low ceiling lookout room at the top of spiral staircase. The house has that warm cabin glow with full knotty pine and is comfortable and well equipped. Fenced yard area is nice for the dog and protected from afternoon winds if they spring up. Warm water outdoor shower to clean off the sand is a great convenience. The protection of the bay allowed us to kayak and paddle board. At minus tides, we glided over the acres of estuary looking down at a natural aquarium filled with crabs, jellyfish, anemones and colorful seaweeds. It was truly magical. We netted a few crabs from the boat. One of us snorkeled in full wetsuit and caught crabs, Dungeness and Rock. Many folks come to catch crabs from the shore, but there is very limited public parking so it never felt crowded. You can find giant Gaper clams if you’re willing to dig deep. There are herons fishing, pelicans diving and seals trolling for crab bait. I sat on the balcony with binoculars zooming in on all the activity. We walked the 2 miles down the beach to Oceanside to get breakfast at the Blue Agate. We also found many agates including 2 big ones on our journeys. Tillamook is an 8 mile drive and good for supplies. We also enjoyed Tora sushi one night. Pacific City is worth a day trip to climb the dune, watch the dories and dine at the Pelican Pub. We’ve camped and stayed at many places along the Oregon coast through the years. This bayfront home is truly our new favorite. We already booked for next summer and can’t wait to be back. Thank

We had a fabulous time, scored crabbing and ended up loving the house. A bit more adult sleeping areas would have been better but the view and home were super!

The Lookout is an absolutely fabulous place to spend a few days with family and/or friends. I can't say enough good things about it. Location is especially wonderful for not only the view, but easy access to the beach and fenced yard for the dog. Clean, comfortable, convenient and cozy .... all in one little piece of paradise. Will definitely go back.

We had a wonderful full family gathering to celebrate out grandson's first birthday. The weather gods were gracious, we got sun in February! The house had all the amenities and more. Comfortable house for a family of 6, a dog and a baby!

We genuinely enjoyed our stay. The breath taking views from the kitchen, bedrooms,bathroom,family room were magnificent! The pic's you see on the website, of the property is exactly what you get. Spacious, clean, fully stocked kitchen. Even extra spices. Walking out of the large backyard right onto the beach! Excellent Customer service very professional and friendly. Yes,I would definitely recommend this property for a couple or families. We are planning a return trip with other family members soon and will certainly plan our stay at the Look Out if it's not booked. We did some cooking ourselves but did have lunch one day at the Old Oregan Smokehouse (A+) in Tillamook, bought fresh fish to cook at The Fish Peddler at Pacific Oyester yum! They serve cooked food as well. Located in Bay City OR. We Loved It All!!!!

A great location, house set up met all of our needs. Access to the beach was top notch and having a fenced yard for the dogs was very convenient. Location was convenient to several towns and activities but also was quiet. House surface areas were clean but could use a deep cleaning.

How was very clean, provided plenty of kitchen necessities. Rooms were comfortable.

My sisters and I had a reunion at the Lookout in August, 2018 and it was fantastic! The house looks just like the pictures, right on the beach, and was beautifully furnished and equipped! We hope to stay there for all future reunions!

This was our fourth stay at the Lookout. Great location for lots of activities at Netarts Bay... or, the kids could simply walk out the back of the Lookout to play on the sand beach. I'm sure we will be returning in the future (our family loves this place), and staying at the Lookout.

The house is great with a full, well stocked kitchen for all of your cooking needs. Upon arrival, we let our dog out and he promptly escaped from the yard. We called Monica and she and a handyman were there within 15 minutes and fully repaired the fence. Our kids enjoyed their own rooms and loved the lookout room. It was perfectly comfortable for cooking and lovely evenings in watching movies and playing games. The beach was not busy at all and town was not to far away. One of the nicest homes we have ever rented!!

This home is comfortable, big enough for a large family but cozy enough to feel at home. The house is clean and incredibly stocked for a rental. Kitchen is so great, functional and full of all utensils! King bed is VERY comfortable- bunk beds are kid only & entire house is dog friendly but very well cleaned! And the view ... is just amazing. Waking up to the bay right at your doorstep is heaven. Would highly recommend this rental.
